County to resume pole barn debate

Posted on April 12, 2024

Next Tuesday at 6 p.m. the county will resume a debate about permitting standalone pole barns in the coastal areas of the county, taking into consideration the possibility FEMA may eliminate a 5% discount on homeowner’s insurance policies under the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

The Taylor County Commission will revisit the issue of permits for pole barns intended to house recreational vehicles (RVs) at its meeting next week, with county staff expected to report on what changes the commissioner can make to its existing ordinances without impacting property owners’ insurance rates.
