The Women of Tomorrow® Mentor & Scholarship Program has appointed Dr. Belinda Gonzalez-Leon as Executive Director for South Florida, marking an important milestone for one of the organization’s largest and most impactful regions.
In her new role, Dr. Gonzalez-Leon will oversee operations and strategy for a program that currently serves approximately 2,700 students across 119 public high schools in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties.
Founded in 1997, Women of Tomorrow® empowers at-risk young women to realize their full potential through mentorship by accomplished professional women, workforce exposure, and college scholarships. The program has reached more than 30,000 students, awarded nearly $9 million in scholarships, and achieved a remarkable 99% high school graduation rate among at-risk populations.
Mentorship and Enrichment in Action
In South Florida alone, more than 200 mentors meet monthly with public high school girls, offering long-term guidance and encouragement. The program extends beyond mentorship sessions with enrichment opportunities such as career-focused field trips, college campus visits, and summits on leadership, safety, and personal development.
A Leader with a Legacy of Service
Dr. Gonzalez-Leon brings more than 25 years of experience in higher education administration. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and an MBA from Nova Southeastern University, along with a Doctorate in Education from Argosy University. A graduate of the National Hispana Leadership Institute, she has been recognized nationally for her leadership, advocacy, and commitment to advancing opportunities for women and minorities.
“Women of Tomorrow is changing the world one young woman at a time,” said Founder and President Jennifer Valoppi. “With Dr. Gonzalez-Leon’s leadership, the organization is poised to expand its reach even further.”
