Tutterow Dance opens registration
LARGO — Tutterow Dance Academy will hold its Annual Fall Registration at the Largo Community Center on Friday, Aug. 16, from 5-8 p.m., and Saturday, August 17, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Classes are available for children ages 2-17.
Tutterow offers a variety of classes, from ballet to hip hop, jazz to tap. Private lessons are also available by appointment for those seeking personalized instruction.

Commission celebrates students
LARGO — The City Commission recently recognized two city staff student interns from Pinellas County Schools “for their commitment to education and ambition for success.”
The city’s Executive Internship Program is designed for academically talented high school students who wish to explore career options before committing to college programs. Alongside their academic mentoring, students complete upward of 52 unpaid internship hours.
This summer, Largo hosted high school students Clarabella Le and Malcolm Maclaren.
City wins accreditation
LARGO — City commissioners recently celebrated being accredited by the American Public Works Association Accreditation Council for the fourth time.
During the week of May 13 – 17, the department was evaluated by the APWA Accreditation Review Team. The team evaluated 121 of 298 practices over 25 chapters of policies and procedures applicable to the organization.
“The results were outstanding, with 118 practices incompliance, one in substantial compliance, and two deemed not applicable,” city officials said. “This exceptional performance has earned the department re-accreditation for another four years.”
The APWA accreditation aims to promote excellence in the operation and management of public works agencies, helping them continuously improve their services and providing a valid and objective evaluation of their programs.
Largo welcomes new police
LARGO — The Largo Police Department has five new police officers and a new sergeant promotion.
At a recent meeting of the City Commission, Chief Mike Loux read short bios of each officer and then the oath of office was administered by City Attorney Alan Zimmet.
“The city of Largo is grateful for the community and team members who all contribute to making Largo the community of choice in Tampa Bay,” city commissioners said.
