We celebrate the life of Phyllis Wallace Holloway, who graced this earth from August 5, 1941, to gloriously transcending life on September 11, 2024. Born in Andalusia, Alabama, and filled with the enduring spirit of Southern grace, Phyllis spent her final days enveloped in the warmth of family and friends in Tallahassee, Florida.
Phyllis breathed her last breath surrounded by generations of love, leaving behind a legacy nourished by her unwavering kindness and enduring care. Her memories are cherished by her devoted daughter, Melissa Register, and her son, Marcus Holloway (Tina), who carry forward her torch of compassion. Her legacy blossoms through her grandchildren – Mara Brooke Holloway, Trey Holloway, Samantha Register Bruner (Knute), and Katie Register Lima (Patrick) – and is further cherished by seven great-grandchildren, as well as many close friends she cherished and considered as her extended family. While Phyllis’s parents, James Collis Wallace and Edna Jernigan Wallace, her two infant brothers, as well as her son in law, Larry Burton Register, preceded her in passing, their light lived on through her remarkable journey.
An accomplished graduate of Chattahoochee High School’s class of 1959 and the holder of an AA Degree in General Studies from Chipola College, Phyllis’s commitment to progress was paralleled only by her dedication to service. She invested thirty gratifying years into her roles at the State of Florida Department of Corrections, Florida Highway Patrol, and Florida State Hospital, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues.
A testament to her faith and community, Phyllis embraced Christianity with her whole heart, becoming an integral part of the First Baptist Church of Chattahoochee. Her involvement with church activities was not just a duty but a joy that she nurtured through her life’s journey as a long-time resident of Chattahoochee.
Phyllis’s artistic talents as a painter brought beauty into the world, while her passion for genealogy and history ensured that the stories of her ancestors would never be forgotten. Above all, she was a beacon of love as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Those who knew Phyllis would describe her as the epitome of love, kindness, and friendship – a woman whose gentle presence turned every encounter into a treasured moment. Though she will be deeply missed, the warmth of her memory will continue to embrace us. Phyllis Wallace Holloway’s legacy will forever dance in the hearts she touched, and through them, her story continues.

A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Chattahoochee at 11:00 AM EST with Rev. Will Floyd officiating and McAlpin Funeral Home directing. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
