Maria Chávez Alcalá, 70 years old, of Marianna FL, departed to the presence of God on Saturday, July 27, 2024. Originally from Zacatecas, her heart belonged to Amado Nervo Durango where she grew up. Mrs. Alcalá resided in Florida for the last 12 years, where she moved after retiring with her husband, Jose Antonio Alcalá. Her faith was always anchored in God, and you would see her in church with her family every Sunday dedicating her life to the service of God. Her love language was flowers and every time she saw them, she captured that moment in a photograph. She had exquisite seasoning and cooked everything with great love. If you tasted her delicious food, you were very blessed. Maria was totally devoted to her family and delighted in seeing her loved one’s smile. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, José Antonio Alcalá, her sister, Macaria, Otilia, her brother, Noé, as well as her parents, José Maria Chávez and Maria de los Angeles Alvarez. Survivors include her children: Dacia, Cesar, Brenda and Hiram Alcalá; a sister, Esther Chavez; four brothers: Benigno, Daniel, Jose Maria, and Francisco Chávez; six granddaughters: Karen, Jennifer, Arlene and Fernanda Alcala, Melissa and Kayra Muñoz; two grandchildren: José Carlos and Alex Rodríguez; and three great-granddaughters: Emily, Bethany Teran Alcalá and Amelia Straut. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, August 2, 2024, at Rivertown Community Church (RCC), Marianna. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Friday, August 2, 2024, at RCC, Marianna, FL.
