A memorial service for a veteran Miami Beach police officer who was killed in a motorcycle crash along Interstate 75 will take place at the Hard Rock Stadium on Wednesday.
Before the memorial service starts for 33-year-old Sgt. David Cajuso, there will be a procession at 8:30 a.m., departing from the Vista Memorial Gardens funeral home.
The procession will then make its way to the Miami Beach Police Station and City Hall, before heading north to Miami Gardens, where the memorial service at the Hard Rock Stadium will start at 10 a.m.
Traffic Impacts
The first leg of the procession will travel from the funeral home in Miami Lakes eastbound along State Road 112 to Interstate 195, and northbound along Interstate 95 to eastbound I-195 to arrive at the Miami Beach Police Station.
Then, it will take Washington Avenue to 5th Street and I-95 north. From there, the procession will take Florida’s Turnpike northbound to Northwest 199th Street, Northwest 27th Avenue and Northwest 203rd to finally arrive at Hard Rock Stadium.
“The public should expect traffic delays and intermittent road closures between 8:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.,” police said.

What happened to Sgt. David Cajuso?
On Oct. 28, Cajuso crashed in the area of the Gratigny Parkway and the I-75 Extension near the Palmetto Expressway.
Aerial footage from Chopper 6 at the crash site showed a large gathering of first responders and officers in a grassy area off the roadway where the motorcycle could be seen on its side.
The Florida Highway Patrol said there were no other vehicles involved in the crash and has since taken over the investigation.

Who was Sgt. David Cajuso?
Cajuso was a 10-year veteran of the department and leaves behind a wife and three young children, ages 2, 3, and 5, Jones said.
He previously worked for Hollywood Police and comes from a first responder family, with his father a firefighter for Miami Beach Fire Rescue.
During Cajuso’s time with the department, he caught a six-foot python in 2020, and survived being run over by a woman in 2017.
