The Marianna City Commission approved a Rural Infrastructure Grant at their regularly scheduled monthly meeting this month. This paved the way for Pulse Industries to proceed with plans to open an operation in Marianna.
Marianna City Manager William Long said, ““It’s all about encouraging businesses to locate here, bringing jobs here that are sorely needed in this community.”
The first grant for $1.6 million will help renovate a dilapidated city-owned building on Industrial Park Drive. With this grant in place, the engineering and manufacturing company, Pulse Industries, has agreed to rent the building.
Long said, “They need modifications to the building to suit what they will be doing in there. We’re super, super excited about that and super happy to be able to spend those grant dollars for the benefit of that new company in that building.”
In a press release from the Jackson County Board of County Commissioners, Pulse is looking to establish a 278,000 square foot advanced manufacturing facility, marking a transformative milestone in the mass production of linear accelerator systems.
The facility, when complete, will feature advanced automation and precision manufacturing systems for the design and mass production of electron beam systems deployed across multiple industries. It will include demonstration and certification capabilities—such as treatment cells for medical device sterilization, food safety applications, a 6,000-barrel-per-day electron cold cracking system for petroleum upgrading, and water treatment systems capable of destroying ‘forever’ chemicals. These on-site resources will ensure rapid certification and deployment of mass-produced systems while demonstrating their environmental and sustainability advantages over traditional chemical treatment processes.
Pulse is expected to bring dozens of new jobs to the area. “There will likely be, over the next two to five years, upwards of a hundred new jobs, above average wage jobs, here in this community. That would be a big deal for us,” Long said.
Marianna officials said they expect Pulse Industries to move into the Industrial Park Drive building in the next two months.
